Allie Rolen began her career as personal trainer in 2005 earning a certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. The certification allowed her to understand and instruct clients in stretch,nutrition,correcting muscle imbalances, increasing stability,strength,power and functionality. She excelled being awarded number 1 trainer in the district for 2 consecutive years. Building her career she moved to Southern California and had opportunity to spend time with the USC football teams strength and conditioning coaches. Allie is actively pursuing her degree in Health Science Administration. Her primary goal is to help people lead a healthy lifestyle and to find their balance to make it possible. Ypsi Studio is where she calls home and has been training there for 6 years.
Amanda Topping, E-RTY200, has been a student of yoga for nearly 20 years. A practice of breath, mindfulness, and physical asana has served on and off the mat all the while. Besides a yoga practitioner and teacher, Amanda is also the mother of three lovely children. After years of an on-call lifestyle as a home birth midwife serving families all over southeast Michigan, Amanda transitioned into yoga teacher in 2012. Since then, instructing yoga has become a full time career: in studio classes, corporate yoga, private sessions and teacher training.
Angela Tripp teaches Indoor Cycling, willPower & grace, willPower Ignite, and Pop Pilates at Ypsi Studio. She also participates in the Ypsi Studio Running Group and loves running, biking, and kayaking outdoors. She began teaching classes at the Studio in 2010 after several years of taking group ex classes there. In her other work she aims to increase access to justice as director of the Michigan Legal Help Program.
Barb Concannon, RYT200, teaches gentle, yin, and slow flows to provide students an opportunity to slow down and pay attention to the body. When not practicing yoga, she’s running. Her day job is planning continuing legal education seminars at U-M.
Chidimma Ozor, RYT 500, loves the simple things in life, like faith, family, friends, travel, laughter, hot yoga and Pilates, Russian Kettlebells, indoor cycling, F45 Fitness, the Michigan Wolverines, French fries, red velvet cake or cupcakes and recordable television. She recently left the desert of Las Vegas, NV where she found her yoga practice and began teaching. Incorporating a yoga-inspired lifestyle has led her to make several radical changes in her life. As a true wellness warrior, she yearns to inspire change in others, much in the same way others have inspired change in her. Her desire is for yoga, specifically, and wellness, in general to transcend all boundaries and be accessible to all. Hopefully you enjoy your own health and wellness with your yoga mat as a backdrop. She is the founder of theTYPEAhippie which is soul and Divine inspired, soul coaching that utilizes prayer & meditation, essential oils, yoga therapy, exercise & movement, nutrition, community and love to empower you to thrive.
Cōlleen O’Brien teaches Indoor Cycling including our Intro class to help riders who are new to cycling at the Studio. She is also known for her creative theme classes including her annual Dirty Dancing ride. She has participated in personal training and cycling at the Studio for seven years and been teaching for four. As a social worker Cōlleen enjoys making connections and creating cool opportunities for self-care.
Debbie Smith is a Level II Willpower and Grace instructor at Ypsi Studio. She has been an AFAA certified group fitness instructor for 17 years. Recently retired from her day job as an instrumental music teacher for 34 years, Debbie finds instructing group fitness as a fun way to combine her love of music and movement with fitness and teaching.
Jenny Murphy began teaching Indoor Cycling nearly 10 years ago at the Ypsi Studio. She loves to commute to work by bike and go for family rides when the weather permits. She works at the University of Michigan Medical School, administering educational exercises for medical students.
Julia Collins has been owner & director of Ypsi Studio since October 2004. Beginning as an ACE Personal Trainer she found her love of group exercise growing over the years. Her certifications now include Schwinn Indoor Cycling, willPower & grace, POP Pilates, Get Ripped! as well as Buti Yoga. Now she is an NAFC Trainer, and her goal of training group exercise instructors has been reached. Over the last few years, an ambassadorship with Lolë, education about Young Living essential oils & becoming an Ambassador for India Hicks have kept her excited and engaged.
Kathy Collins teaches TRX classes at YpsiStudio. She is also a certified NAFC group fitness instructor. Kathy has been working at YpsiStudio since she retired from a local court in 2012. Kathy is a late blooming gym rat and has YpsiStudio to thank for it. Working out with and training students of all ages keeps her inspired and active while creating a positive and FUN experience for her students. When not at YS, Kathy can be found working as a District Court Probation Officer for Washtenaw County
Mandy Ferguson teaches the very popular Yoga Fusion class at Ypsi Studio.
Reina Telin began her fitness journey after a major surgery left her on the couch for months. She has a passion for strength training that started in high school and carries that passion to training clients and groups of all levels.
Shirley Nyikon has been a Group Instructor and Personal Trainer for over 30 years. Ceritfied by ACE, AFAA, AFPA, and AEA. Shirley is also a Master Instructor and Testor for World Instructor Trainers. She holds specialty certifications in TRX and Get Ripped that she brings to the Ypsi Studio.
