Yoga is an energizing practice great for cardiovascular health and overall strength. In our different Yoga classes, we focus on strengthening not only your abdominal muscles, but your back muscles as well. It is very important to have a strong core to achieve good posture and overall energy. Yoga will teach you to control the energy in your body to gain strength. Yoga classes may also include balancing poses as well as inversions.
Gentle Yoga: Start your morning with poses that gently warm up the body and release tension through longer holding stretches and focus on breath. This class is appropriate for all levels of yoga experience and physical fitness and is accompanied with instrumental music.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga: An energetic class to wake up your Friday morning! Poses flow together in a vigorous sequence to warm up the body, focus on breath, and build strength and flexibility. The teacher leads the sequence, with the eventual goal of students taking their practice on their own and adjusting poses to their bodies and difficulty level. Accompanied with upbeat music.
Vinyasa Yoga: A flowing series of poses that work with body and breath to bring strength, balance and flexibility to the body. Previous yoga experience recommended.
Bold Hold Yoga: This class focuses on going deep into postures and on breath awareness. Prolonged holding of poses brings your body strength and alignment. Yogic teachings believe that holding poses for longer periods open us to new parts of ourselves laying dormant, and aids in releasing mental and emotional patterns stuck in our bodies. This class will make you sweat and leave you feeling relaxed and renewed.
Pilates: Come ready to challenge your mind and your body as you build body awareness, flexibility, core and overall strength. Basic Pilates concepts will be demonstrated, explained, and discussed; there will be a focus on functional movement in daily life. Classes vary according to participant skill.
YogaCore: An energetic, intermediate yoga class combining the flow of vinyasa, the intensity of our Bold Hold class, and various poses to challenge and strengthen the core. Previous yoga experience recommended.
Yoga Fusion: A full hour fusion of tai chi, yoga, and Pilates set to popular music. The poses and movement are designed to warm the body through movement and breath, strengthen all major muscle groups, all while improving posture, balance, and flexibility. The class will conclude with a gentle guided meditation.
For all Yoga and Pilates classes, please wear clothing that is close fitting without being constricting to allow the teacher to see your movements. Yoga mats are available at the Studio, or you may choose to bring your own.
