Classes at the Studio
Ypsi Studio offers a wide variety of group exercise classes – we truly believe that there is something for everyone here! For safe and effective exercise every time you come to Ypsi Studio, and to get the maximum benefit from every class, please arrive on time to our group exercise classes.
Indoor Cycling If you haven’t tried indoor cycling before, now is the time! Indoor cycling is a fantastic cardiovascular group exercise workout where the instructor and the music guide the group through varying terrains using a specially designed stationary bike. Schwinn describes indoor cycling as the perfect combination of simple, athletic exercise plus an environment that enables participants to make a connection between the body and mind. Intro to Cycling classes also offered periodically, as are Spin/Yoga classes. Classes limited to 13 participants – call the Studio and reserve a bike! (734.845.0542).
willPower & grace® No equipment necessary for this class – that includes shoes! willpower & grace is a high-energy cardiovascular class combining dance principles, calisthenic drills, and yogic postures. This class integrates barefoot training methods to help strengthen your feet and correct imbalances in your ankles, knees, and hips. Over time willPower & grace will help you stand taller, walk with greater confidence, and function with the new strength that you have learned to harness.
Yoga and PilatesYpsi Studio offers a variety of Yoga classes, as well as Pilates. Yoga for Heart and Mind connects your mind to your physical body, while Gentle Yoga helps you get prepared for the day ahead. Vinyasa Yoga is an energizing practice that is great for cardiovascular health and overall strength. No matter what the variety of Yoga you choose, come ready to challenge your mind and your body as you build body awareness, flexibility, core and overall strength. In the Pilates classes, basic Pilates concepts will be demonstrated, explained, and discussed. These classes vary according to participant skill, but there is always a focus on functional movement in daily life.
Strength Training If you are looking to build muscle strength in your arms, back, shoulders, and legs, Ypsi Studio has many options. Ypsi Studio offers a variety of 30-minute body toning classes which focus on specific body parts – look for Butts & Guts, Abs & Arms, Back & Shoulders, and Balance/Core/Strength on the calendar. TRX utilizes specialty equipment which enables you to work your muscles in an entirely new way. Alternately, Warrior Training incorporates everyday objects in a strength training program unlike any other you have tried.
Running Events Question – Can running be a group exercise? Answer – Yes! Julia Collins, an experienced runner and certified personal trainer, leads a group of intrepid runners on a 2.8-3.1 mile course on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 5:30am (weather permitting). The pace(s) of the run vary depending on the group. Also, there are many runners among the Ypsi Studio crowd – if you are interested in training with a buddy, doing speed work, or running a race, you can find other interested runners through the Ypsi Studio Runners Group on Facebook.
All classes at Ypsi Studio operate on a drop-in basis so that you can maximize your time and fit classes into your busy schedule. Also keep an eye on the Ypsi Studio home page for details about specials on pricing or packages! Gift Certificates are always available in any amount.
You can purchase a punch card, and simply “punch in” when you come to take a class. Punch cards never expire, and you can share your punch card with your partner, or treat a friend to a class by punching your card for him or her.
Another option is to purchase an unlimited pass, which lets you drop in to any class at any time, or work out on your own whenever the studio is open and equipment is available. Sorry, unlimited passes cannot be shared with anyone else
Any punch card, unlimited pass, or personal training package can be purchased through your Mind Body Online account. You can also purchase any package at Ypsi Studio using cash, personal check (made payable to Fitness Chick, LLC), or Visa/Mastercard/Discover.
The pricing structure is below. Seniors, Students, and Personal Training clients receive a 20% discounts.
